Relaunch of Accra-Nsawam train service suffers setback with derailment

A plan to relaunch the Accra-Nsawam train service on Thursday morning suffered a set-back following the derailment of the train.

Graphic Online’s reporter, Nana Konadu Agyeman who was part of the media team on board the train and were covering the beginning of the service reported that the 156 two-seater coach derailed when one of the coaches of the locomotive came off the track at Chinto near Papase at about 12.21 pm.

None of the passengers, media personnel and staff of the Ghana Railway Company sustained any injury.

Workers of the railway company were trying to remedy the problem as of the time of filing this report and were yet to identify what could have caused the derailment.
